River Heisler, MA

Sponsor Recruitment & Relations Coordinator

River Heisler (they/them) is a recent graduate of Pacific University Oregon’s MA in Applied Clinical Psychology program and a new student to Duquesne University’s PhD in Clinical Psychology. They have a deep and abiding passion for phenomenology, in particular the recent turns in the phenomenological tradition which critique the impact on systems of oppression on individuals’ lifeworlds. Their research interests leverage this passion, and they are particularly interested in how experiences of dysphoria in non-binary individuals impact the experience of embodiment. In their clinical work, they practice from an existential lens, with a nascent (though fierce) interest in Gestalt therapy. They bring a modest expertise in- and deep enthusiasm for- organizing, and are particularly excited for the opportunity to help contribute to growing spaces which foster dialogue about these important topics in psychology.
